Hello, I'm Amanda — the explorer behind Go Outside and Play USA.
The one thing that always echoes through my mind is the voice of my mother and father telling me to go outside and play. Now I have a love for the outdoors that runs deep. I've chased some of the most beautiful waterfalls, rock hounded for rare gems and minerals, and panned for gold on the highest mountain tops. It doesn't matter if I'm crabbing on the coast, wandering endless trails on a long hike, or digging in the dirt to hunt for treasures; I feel most at home when I'm outside, exploring the beauty this world has to offer.
Travel, for me, isn't just about the destination — I have no urge to travel the world when I'm in one of the most beautiful countries that still needs exploration. There is nothing like driving on a scenic road that winds into the unknown. Every trip is an opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply, connect with the land, and leave behind all the daily stress.
Through Go Outside and Play USA, I share stories, tips, and inspiration from my journeys — from road trips across the Pacific Northwest to afternoons spent rock hounding, gold panning, and chasing waterfalls. My hope is that you'll find encouragement here to pack up, get outside, and discover your own adventures.
